Orlando Adds Passur FIDS Tool

top story photo The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority has contracted for Megadata's Passur RightETA, an information feed of Passur estimated times of arrival (ETAs), the company announced Friday. The system will be incorporated into all of Orlando International Airport's flight information display systems (FIDS).

"We were looking for a system to provide accurate and timely flight information, which are the keys to supplying a high level of customer service for our travelers and the community," said Parker McClellan, A.A.E., senior director of airports for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. "We expect this service to help us meet our goal."

The Passur ETA system is built upon algorithms fed by multiple data sources in real time, including flight position information from the network of Passur radar systems installed around the country, Megadata explained. It is calculated by tracking multiple real-time metrics of the target flight as well as other nearby aircraft in the surrounding airspace, along with current and historic airspace conditions.
