Global Airline Passenger Traffic Gains in July

top story photo Global airline passenger traffic in July rose 6.8 percent compared with the same month last year, but is down from the 7.7 percent year-over-year growth recorded in June, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

North American airlines' traffic climbed 3.5 percent in July compared with July 2016, IATA said. Outbound travel is being supported by the relatively solid economic environment in North America, the organization said. However, "Anecdotal evidence suggests that inbound demand is being negatively influenced by the additional security measures in place for travel to the U.S," IATA stated.
