The Trump Administration has announced the appointment of Daniel Elwell as Deputy Administrator of the FAA.
Elwell is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and served in Operation Desert Storm. He was a commercial pilot for 16 years before becoming Assistant FAA Administrator for Policy under President George W. Bush.
Over the course of his career, Elwell served two years as Senior Vice President for Safety, Security and Operations at A4A and held senior positions at the Aerospace Industries Association and American Airlines. He also served as a legislative fellow for the late Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), covering aviation issues.
