The House Wednesday passed a bill to extend aviation programs and excise taxes through July 3. The House approved the measure by a voice vote.
Congress has been unable to pass a multi-year FAA bill since Vision 100 expired almost two and a half years ago. Consequently, lawmakers have approved a series of short-term extensions instead. The current extension expires at the end of the month.
The additional extension will provide a total of $3 billion in AIP contract authority for the first nine months of FY10. This amount reflects the $4 billion that the House and Senate versions of the FAA reauthorization bill include for AIP in the same fiscal year.
