The White House on Friday was expected to announce the nomination of Erroll Southers to serve as TSA administrator.
Currently, Southers is the assistant chief for the Los Angeles World Airports Police Department's Office of Homeland Security and Intelligence. He also serves as the associate director of the Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events at the University of Southern California, where he was previously an adjunct professor of terrorism, homeland security and public policy. He holds a master's degree in public administration from the University of Southern California where he currently is pursuing a doctorate in policy, planning and development.
With Congress now on its August recess, the Senate likely will not take up Southers' nomination until some time in September.
