The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) Board of Commissioners has approved a contract for Hardaway Construction Corp. to perform construction associated with the second phase of the interior renovation of the passenger terminal and concourses at Nashville International Airport.
As part of the contract, the small, minority and women-owned owned business enterprise (SMWBE) partners, Boulton Enterprises; Gipson Mechanical; Hermosa; Jarvis Signs; Modular Designs of Memphis; Sunago Builders; TG, Inc.; and TN Coatings, will provide construction services for the MNAA. The SMWBE partners' involvement represents 12.9 percent of the total contract. This entire project will create an estimated 125 jobs, airport officials said.
The project is the second phase of the airport's terminal renovation program. Phase I - completed in February 2009 on time and under budget by Bell & Associates - added a consolidated security checkpoint, concourse skylights, flight information displays and more than 30 new food and retail vendors. As a joint venture, Architectural Alliance and Thomas + Miller served as the design consultant on Phases I and II.
Phase II, slated to begin in summer 2009 and continue through March 2011, will include renovation of existing public restrooms and construction of new restrooms; replacement of terminal and concourse carpeting and tile; replacement of existing HVAC units; renovation of airline gate hold rooms; replacement of wall coverings on ticketing, baggage and ground transportation levels; enlargement of ticket lobby; and renovation of baggage claim.
