AAAE Chair Jim Elwood Wednesday urged lawmakers to quickly pass a multi-year FAA reauthorization bill that raises the PFC cap, increases AIP funding and helps small communities struggling to retain commercial air service.
Elwood urged lawmakers to reject a proposal by the International Association of Fire Fighters that could unnecessarily force airports to comply with excessive fire fighting standards. AAAE has been leading the fight against this labor proposal for the past two years.
Aviation Subcommittee Chairman Jerry Costello (D-Ill.) said that he intends "to move forward on reauthorizing the FAA as quickly as possible…." He also pointed out that "short-term funding extensions and continuing resolutions are delaying key Next Gen and airport development capital projects."
