AAAE will host a symposium Aug. 21-22 in San Francisco for airport managers that is designed to focus on the next generation of aviation credentialing and access control.
Through panel discussions, with high-level representation from TSA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the symposium will examine the issues, challenges and opportunities associated with proposed initiatives related to employee credentialing and access control, especially efforts to incorporate biometrics into airport badging and access control systems.
There will be a special focus on the industry-led Biometric Airport Security Identification Consortium and TSA's Aviation Credential Interoperability Solution, as well as federal legislation to study standards-based, interoperable biometric systems for aviation employees.
In addition, the Transportation Security Clearinghouse will host a one-day workshop designed to review the current aviation-related vetting and credentialing programs.
